DOV Midterm: Call to RecommitmentThis document attempts to capture the learnings, the dynamics and the results of the first part of the Decade. Moreover, it is a reminder that the Decade is by no means over. In September 2005 it was submitted to the executive committee which affirmed its content with the understanding that it will be given to the delegates in the context of the plenary on the Decade to Overcome Violence as a call to recommitment for the churches. Downloads: World Military Expenditures- a compilation of data and facts related to military spending, education and health (2005)The Decade to Overcome Violence claims to be “challenging the growing militarization of our world, especially the proliferation of small arms and light weapons.” It also calls on churches and Christians “to relinquish any theological justification of violence”.
