Can I use the DOV logo?
Yes! WCC encourages you to download and use the DOV logo on your website, printed materials, and other media.
Please mention the following credit line whenever the logo is used:
“Decade to Overcome Violence logo used with permission from the World Council of Churches”.
Can I translate or modify the DOV logo?
Yes – please feel free to translate the logo into other languages (it is already translated into French, Spanish,and German), or to reasonably modify the image.
If you translate or modify the logo, please send us a copy and we will add it to this page so that it can be shared with others!
You will need to download one of the logos for professional use in order to make changes.
What is the meaning of the logo? - The hands in the shape of the heart over the broken earth signify the need as well as the hope of overcoming violence.
- The yellow earth stands for hope amidst turmoil, while the sharp edges of the green shape emphasise the danger that the earth is in.
- The movement around the earth signifies the dynamism of this global initiative.
DOV Logos: simple version
Which logo file(s) should I download? - For use on the web, use the .gif or .jpg file format. .Gif is smaller and easier to download; if it is necessary to reduce or enlarge the size, .jpg may give better results.
- For simple printed materials, use .jpg file format.
- For large printed materials, or for translating or modifying the logo, see logos for professional use.

Which logo file(s) should I download?
This depends on your graphics software and on what you need to do with the logo.
Available options are: - Illustrator 6, Macintosh format
These are Vector files, which can be adapted to any size with no decrease in quality.
Two types of files are available: - Editable file.
To modify this file, you may need to also install the fonts used for the logo - FFJustlefthand (Letterror, Just Van Rossum) and Futura condensed (Adobe). - Vectorized file.
With this type of file, the typeface is transformed into lines, and it is not necessary to have the fonts installed. Editable file (colors and shapes)
- Illustrator 9, Macintosh format
These are Vector files, which can be adapted to any size with no decrease in quality.
Three types of files are available: - Extension "AI" - an editable file.
To modify this file, you may need to also install the fonts used for the logo - FFJustlefthand (Letterror, Just Van Rossum) and Futura condensed (Adobe). - Extension "EPS" - a vectorized file.
This is a file in Postscript format, which can be imported into many software packages. It can be increased or decreased to any size and directly printed. Editable file (colors and shapes) - Extension "PDF" - a non-editable file.
This can be read on almost all platforms by programs such as Adobe Acrobat Reader version 4 or higher. It is used mainly for exact printing.
- Tiff format, Cyan/Magenta/Yellow/Black, Macintosh format
Pixel file in 300 DPI (high resolution). Enlarging this image decreases its quality.
