The Rev. Dr. Wanda Deifelt
The Rev. Dr. Wanda Deifelt is an ordained pastor of the Lutheran Church in Brazil (IECLB). She taught at Escola Superior de Teologia (the Lutheran Seminary in Brazil) from 1991-2004, and was responsible for the Chair of Feminist Theology and the disciplines of Systematic Theology. She also served as vice-president of the Seminary, Provost of the Graduate Program in Theology, and local coordinator of the International Network of Advanced Theological Education (INATE). Dr. Deifelt was a visiting faculty at Emmanuel College of Victoria University in the University of Toronto, in Canada, and at Gurukul Lutheran Theological College & Research Institute in Chennai, India.
Currently, Wanda Deifelt is Associate Professor of Religion at Luther College in Decorah, IA, a liberal arts college affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). She is responsible for all disciplines in Systematic Theology and teaches courses such as Christian Theology and Luther & Lutheranism. Through the request of Luther College to IECLB, she serves on campus both in academic and pastoral capacities.
Wanda Deifelt served as theological advisor for the Standing Committee of Ecumenical Affairs of the Lutheran World Federation from 1998-2003, during the period the Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Justification was signed and received. She was member and vice-chair of the advisory board for the World Council of Churches' Ecumenical Institute in Bossey, Switzerland (1994-2003). Currently, she serves at the board of the Lutheran World Federation's Ecumenical Institute in Strasbourg, France.
