Letter from the Caribbean Conference of Churches to the Middle East Council of Churches

Mr. Guirgis Saleh
General Secretary
Middle East Council of Churches

Dear Mr. Saleh

On behalf of the Presidents, the General Secretary, Mr. Gerard Granado, and the staff of the Caribbean Conference of Churches (CCC), I am extending our fraternal support to the people of Lebanon who are facing violence, suffering and death caused by the air strikes and military operations in the Middle East.

We noted your statement published by the Churches of the Middle East Peace and we join with them and the National Council of Churches (NCC), USA, in calling upon the USA to broker a cease fire in the Middle East.  However we at the CCC convey our sympathy through your council to the people of Lebanon who have been killed, injured and displaced through the destruction of properties.

We continue to remember the Lebanese people in our prayers.  We join with World Council of Churches (WCC), the NCC USA to call for the cease fire in the Middle East.

May God give you strength and courage in this troublesome and difficult time in the Middle East.

Yours in Christ

Rev. Dr. Knolly Clarke
