Agenda of the International Ecumenical Peace Convocation (IEPC)
The agenda of the International Ecumenical Peace Convocation (Kingston, Jamaica 17 to 25 May 2011) is conceived to celebrate the culmination of the Decade to Overcome Violence (DOV). It will highlight achievements, build on good examples and offer opportunities to learn from each other.
A deliberate effort is made to interact with the local community through exposure visits, public events and the dedication of one full day in the programme to Caribbean concerns. This will be organized by the host committee in collaboration with the overall planning committee to ensure coordination particularly with the themes and spiritual life of the convocation.
The Ecumenical Call to Just Peace will serve as the common theological basis throughout the event.
The four thematic areas of the convocation will be explored in plenary sessions throughout the week. One theme will be developed each day, beginning with related prayer and Bible Study.
The afternoons will be spent in “Reasoning” sessions: a series of workshops for sharing and learning, providing the opportunity for interaction in small groups. These encounters will produce precise recommendations, new initiatives, and practical information on peace making and provide a space for the wide range of issues that need to be elaborated on in the context of the daily themes.
